12/30/20 - St. Johns County Update
St. Johns County is working in partnership with the Florida Department
of Health in St. Johns County to assist with the first phase of public
COVID-19 vaccination operations. As the lead agency for vaccination distribution,
the Florida Department of Health in St. Johns County has received a limited
initial allocation of COVID-19 vaccines. Per State of Florida Executive
Order 20-315, the first phase of COVID-19 vaccines is designated for the
following populations:
• Healthcare personnel with direct patient contact
• Long-term care facility residents and staff
• Persons 65 years of age and older
In addition, St. Johns County Fire Rescue is actively vaccinating frontline
personnel including emergency medical technicians, paramedics, and firefighters.
The Federal Government and State Government are also directly administering
vaccine distribution to long-term care facility residents and staff through
local private healthcare providers and pharmacies. As information regarding
COVID-19 vaccine distribution in St. Johns County is continually evolving,

12/22/20 - Flagler Hospital Vaccine Update
Flagler Health+ received its first shipment of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine
for internal distribution on Tuesday, December 22nd. Administration of
the vaccine across the enterprise is underway, providing team members
and physician partners an extra layer of protection against the COVID-19
virus. It not known at this time what role Flagler Health+ will play in
the deployment of vaccinations to the public. According to the CDC, the
goal is for everyone to be able to easily get vaccinated against COVID-19
as soon as large enough quantities are available. Once vaccines are widely
available, the plan is to have several thousand vaccination providers
offering COVID-19 vaccines in doctors’ offices, retail pharmacies,
hospitals, and federally qualified health centers. We know many area residents
are anxious to receive the vaccine. As soon as we have additional information,
we will provide it here.
Visitors
At Flagler Health+, we understand that loved ones play a very important
role in a patient’s recovery. It is also our responsibility to keep
our patients, staff and visitors safe. To support this, an inter-professional
team of physicians, infection prevention experts and leadership at Flagler
Health+ has established a revised visitor policy appropriate for the current
state of COVID-19 in our community.
Visiting hours are from 8 am to 8 pm with the following guidelines:
• Inpatients will be allowed two visitors, over the age of 18, excluding
patients in the behavioral health unit.
• Visitors to labor and delivery will be allowed one visitor who must
stay with the patient.
• Postpartum patients will be allowed one visitor who may come and go.
• NICU will be allowed two visitors at a time.
• Patients arriving for surgeries and procedures will be allowed one
visitor during pre-operation and recovery times.
• Emergency Department patients, except for those presenting with
respiratory symptoms, will be allowed one visitor once they are placed
in their treatment room.
• Special circumstances, including visitation for patients diagnosed
with COVID-19, will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
• All visitors must pass a COVID-19 screening, which includes a questionnaire
and temperature check, and also wear a mask during their entire visit.
