
If you are breastfeeding, a lactation consultant will visit you during your hospital admission to provide information about breastfeeding as well as physical and emotional support as you are adjusting to the breastfeeding experienceThe lactation consultant is a registered nurse who has received additional specialized training in helping moms and babies with breastfeeding.
After you go home, nursing staff will follow up with you via phone to see how you and your baby are doing and to address any additional problems you may have encountered since discharge. After discharge, breastfeeding assistance is available to you 24 hours a day. Change it to "After discharge, breastfeeding assistance is available to you from 9am to 4pm, Monday- Friday by calling the lactation support line at 904-819-4353. One of our lactation specialists will return your call within 24 hours. Most weekends phone support is available from 9am to 4pm by calling the main desk on the Maternal Child Unit at 904-819-4351.
The breastfeeding support group annually celebrates World Breast Feeding Week by gathering together and uniting toward this important cause. The World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) and breastfeeding advocates in more than 170 countries worldwide celebrate World Breastfeeding Week each year.
