UF Health St. JohnsAppoints John Eaton to Serve as Vice President of Social and Behavioral Health Services

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – January 12, 2022 – UF Health St. Johns is pleased to announce the appointment of John Eaton to the role of Vice President, Social and Behavioral Health Services. In this capacity, Mr. Eaton is responsible for further developing and operationalizing the UF Health St. Johnsstrategy to increase access, eliminate stigma and leverage innovation to address behavioral health and social health needs of communities across Northeast Florida. Reporting to EVP of Strategy and Advancement Gina Mangus, Mr. Eaton will oversee behavioral and social health strategic growth initiatives, operations and care delivery across the continuum. He will continue to serve as Executive Director of Care Connect+, leading and developing strategies that transform the way communities address social determinants of health and mental health through digital innovation, provider alignment and deployment of its proven model for unified intake, referral, access, engagement and navigation.

Mr. Eaton joined UF Health St. Johnsin 2013 to build the organization’s community health improvement program. Under his leadership, UF Health Care Connectwas established and has grown to include a network of more than 100 community-based organizations across Northeast Florida. UF Health Care Connecthas demonstrated success in advancing key health factors like homelessness, mental health, social isolation and in overcoming systemic barriers, to positively affect change and build healthier communities. As part of this, Mr. Eaton led the team that launched the UF Health St. Johnsyouth behavioral health program BRAVE (Be Resilient and Voice Emotions). BRAVE has grown in three years to serve seven counties, including contracts with St. Johns County, Clay County, Putnam County and Nassau County School Districts as well as the Boys & Girls Club of Northeast Florida.

Mr. Eaton holds a degree in Health Education and Behavior from the University of Florida. He is a leader in the community, serving as Chairman of the Community Partnership School Executive Board, Vice Chair of the St. Johns County Health Leadership Council and a board member of the Good Samaritan Health Centers, St. Johns County Continuum of Care and the St. Augustine Family YMCA.
