UF Health Flagler Hospital Named one of America's 100 Best Hospitals 2020 by Healthgrades

St. Augustine, Fla. – February 12, 2020 – UF Health Flagler Hospital has been named one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for 2020 by Healthgrades. The honor places UF Health Flagler Hospital in the top two percent of nearly 4,500 hospitals assessed nationwide for its consistent, year-over-year superior clinical performance as measured by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians and health systems.

“Being recognized as one of America’s Best 100 Hospitals year after year does not happen by chance. Our clinical outcomes reflect deliberate and ongoing investments in training, technology, evidence-based practice, collaboration and empowerment of our staff,” said UF Health St. JohnsPresident and CEO Jason Barrett. “We take the trust our patients and their loved ones place in us very seriously and make delivering the highest quality care our number one priority every day.”

During the 2020 study period (2016 through 2018), these hospitals showed superior performance in clinical outcomes for patients in the Medicare population across 21 of 32 most common inpatient conditions and procedures — as measured by objective performance data (risk-adjusted mortality and in-hospital complications).

“Sustaining a high level of care is challenging and requires a hospital-wide commitment and a ‘patient-first’ culture. We applaud these elite hospitals on being recognized as the best in the nation,” said Brad Bowman, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Healthgrades. “With increasing awareness on the importance of hospital quality, this information is a vital resource for consumers when it comes to selecting a hospital for their specific care needs.”

For patients, this means a fundamental difference in outcomes. If all hospitals nationwide performed similarly to those achieving the Healthgrades America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award™, 170,783 lives could potentially have been saved.
